I have 15k in credit card debt and i want to get rid of soon. I dont want to do go thru debt consolidation companys because it will have a negative affect on my credit. how should i start? payoff the ones with high interest first or what?

BEST ANSWER TO WHO CAN GIVE ME THE ANSWERS I’M LOOKING FOR…
I just graduated from college and moved back home. I live in a dysfunctional household and in a iffy and complex situation, since I am on SSI and can’t exactly ‘work’. In addition, my mother doesn’t want me to get a job b/c it will raise the rent and she just doesn’t want me to have a life, period–since she has something against her daughters (aka me).

So, I need some serious, thought-out answers here. How can I get myself out of my credit card debt at least besides getting a job? Are there necessary steps I need to take in order to declare bankruptcy? PLEASE HELP!

I am still waiting for someone to explain how they used the principle of Obamanomics to " spend their way out of personal debt " for their family ?

The fact is that Obama did spend more in his first 8 months in office than any other President ( including Bush ) did during their entire term(s) in office
Even the Congressional Budget Office is now warning that unless Obama stops spending America will suffer greater economic problems that we have faced since the Great Depression
It is disgraceful that Obama perpetuates a mantra of " entitlements " which encourage reliance upon the government and discourage self-reliance
There was a time in America’s history when people felt shame if they had to resort to being on the government " dole "

About $20 billion in consumer debt is currently enrolled in debt settlement programs, according to the association.

Ads for debt settlement companies are ubiquitous, and nearly always use the same pitch: Consumers have the “right” to have their debts reduced by 50, 60 even 70 percent, the ads say, promising information that “credit card companies don’t want you to know.”

The basic strategy these firms employ is to instruct consumers to stop paying creditors. Instead, they are told to save money in a separate account. After receiving nothing for many months, the settlement companies say, lenders will be happy to take a lump sum payment for far less than the total debt. Sometimes, it works.

The problem for consumers is that high up-front fees and additional monthly fees often mean they have very little to offer creditors after six months or a year in the program.
